Responsibilities
Create/ maintain a thorough and documented system of accounting policies and procedures. Ensure updated documentation for accounting related standard operating procedures
Prepare journal entries and comprehensible work papers for close process, as well as fluctuation commentaries related to financial statements reviews
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and identify/investigate discrepancies
Provide assistance to both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to produce efficiency and proper control process
Prepare tax and survey reports/filings, ensuring accuracy and timely filings
Prepare initial reporting packages for review by the Controller and make any appropriate updates to reports
Works with external auditors and provides needed information for annual audits
Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government regulations
Mentor, train and collaborating with accounting staff
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives/projects
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related program required
4+ years working in accounting or finance required
Strong understanding of accounting department functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and proficiency in other Microsoft applications
Preferred
Public experience preferred
CPA designation highly preferred
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) preferred
Experience in healthcare highly preferred
