Tech Specialist Mechanical Engineer
Air Force Civilian Service is seeking a Full-Time Tech Specialist Mechanical Engineer to work at Air Force Materiel Command in Oklahoma City. The role involves serving as a primary technical specialist, performing detailed analysis and evaluations to improve aircraft production performance, and collaborating with various strategic offices to develop and analyze opportunities within the Aircraft Maintenance Group.

Responsibilities
Serve as a primary technical specialist for the S&E workforce supporting the designated functional mission area
Work with multiple stakeholders to develop design alternatives, assess alternatives based on all identified constraints and select the most suitable options for further design
Make recommendations to higher management regarding technical adequacy, data research and final results
Serve as a recognized senior technical specialist within the designated functional area
Act as a consultant for designated functional mission area within and outside the organization to include industry and government
Be recognized as the technical authority with respect to policy and best practices associated with designated functional mission are processes
Develop policy, processes, standards and other guidance to ensure sound developmental practices are followed
Serve as the focal point for senior scientists and engineers, chiefs engineers, technical directors technical experts, industry experts and higher headquarters officials on matters concerning designated functional mission area
Perform complex and comprehensive analysis and use systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to implement, develop and document projects
Evaluate procedures and employ innovative techniques and methods to achieve goals
Develop, execute and review policies, processes and procedures of a special or miscellaneous character that may span multiple engineering disciplines and requires application of knowledge of such principles
Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective action
Remain mindful of new technology and revolutionary changes in research and development to ensure proper emphasis during the phases of life-cycle support
Define major/critical problems and advise management officials of advantages or disadvantages of various alternatives

As a recognized specialist, the employee has significant responsibility for defining major/critical problems and for advising management officials of advantages or disadvantages of various alternatives
Findings, recommendations and decisions on functional issues influence processes and procedures used throughout the functional community
Mastery of advanced concepts, principles and practices in professional engineering which enables the incumbent to serve as an authoritative expert and consultant in the full range of systems and engineering functions
Expert knowledge of advance engineering concepts, principles and practices that enable the incumbent to serve as an expert in the full range of system engineering functions as well as the ability to incorporate necessary training in program initiatives to meet mission needs
Advanced knowledge of DoD, AFMC, AFSC structure, missions, roles, programs, mission areas, enterprise, and organizational relationships
Advanced knowledge of weapons hazard analysis techniques, hazardous operations, engineering drawings and equipment design criteria regarding systems engineering and system safety engineering requirements
Ability to gather, organize, analyze and integrate facts, draw conclusions and devise solutions in extremely complex engineering areas
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in the capacity of spokesperson for the Squadron/Branch
Must also communicate with mid- and top-level decision makers within the maintenance environment, his/her superiors, peers and personnel at the working level on issues related to engineering
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions of an organization, and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff through subordinate supervisors
Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources
U.S. citizenship required
Must be of legal working age
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
