Responsibilities
Review and approve new customer credit applications
Set and adjust customer credit limits based on financial review, payment history, and exposure
Assess credit risk for new and existing customers and recommend terms changes as needed
Review and approve credit memos, returns, and customer discount requests (freight, tariff, etc.)
Send bad-debt files to outside collections agencies and follow on recoveries
Generate AR aging reports and track overdue balances
Manage overdue accounts (reminders, follow-ups, payment arrangements)
Escalate high-risk or delinquent accounts to leadership when needed
Manage credit card chargebacks and supporting documentation
Communicate proactively with customers regarding payments, balances, and account issues
Coordinate credit holds and releases with Sales and Customer Service
Manage the customer claims process including damages, shortages, and factory-related claims
Investigate and resolve disputes or chargebacks
Partner across Customer Service, Sales, Imports, and Warehouse to research and resolve issues
Maintain and update customer master data (terms, limits, addresses, tax forms, etc.)
Review and process customer setup documentation
Ensure accurate recording of credit decisions, claims, communications, and account actions
Track and report key AR metrics (DSO, overdue trends, cash collection forecasts)
Provide weekly/monthly reporting to management on collections progress and risk accounts
Support month-end closing and audit needs related to AR and credit
Identify opportunities to improve processes, documentation, and controls
Ensure adherence to company credit policies and financial practices
Qualification
Required
7+ years of experience in collections, credit, or accounts receivable
Demonstrated experience setting credit limits and making credit decisions
Experience handling claims, chargebacks, deductions, and customer disputes
Strong financial and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication and follow-up discipline
High attention to detail, accuracy, and record-keeping
Advanced Excel and reporting skills
Preferred
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
