Elinor & Charles Miller Rural Justice Fellowship
Pine Tree Legal Assistance is seeking an outstanding candidate to serve as the 2026 Elinor and Charles Miller Rural Justice Fellow. The fellow will work from the Machias office, focusing on providing legal services to low-income individuals in rural communities across Maine, while receiving training and mentorship from experienced staff.

Responsibilities
Work on a wide range of legal issues, including areas of housing, consumer, Tribal, and family law
Propose special projects or areas of focus for their fellowship work that are consistent with Pine Tree’s program priorities
Qualification
Required
Current 3L students or law graduates completing judicial clerkships
Admitted to the practice of law in Maine, or eligible to practice under MRCP 11(c) while working at Pine Tree, or prepared to seek admission to practice law in Maine at their earliest opportunity (e.g., by taking the July 2025 bar exam)
Reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the state of Maine
