Responsibilities
Design, implement, integrate, and maintain NAV software modules that provide navigation data to the Collins FMS
Develop software in ADA, C++, C, and Python following safety-critical development standards
Analyze system and software requirements, including NAV-to-FMS ICDs
Participate in flight-test operations, lab testing, and simulation runs to evaluate system performance under real-world and mission-critical conditions
Implement navigation algorithms, data handling, and integrity monitoring logic
Implement and support AI-assisted onboard features such as intelligent sensor fusion, anomaly detection, and autonomous control logic
Support requirements traceability in Jama or DOORS
Conduct unit and integration testing and debugging
Support verification and validation activities per DO-178C
Participate in peer reviews, design reviews, and code inspections
Collaborate with systems, verification, and certification teams
Qualification
Required
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Embedded or real-time avionics software experience
Proficiency in C++ and Python are required
Experience across multiple phases of the software lifecycle
Familiarity with Git, Jira, Confluence, Jama, SVN and CI/CD tools
Preferred
DO-178B/C experience (DAL B preferred)
Knowledge of avionics navigation and FMS-integrated systems
Experience with ICD-driven development
Familiarity with ARINC 429 or ARINC 664
Strong communication skills
Experience with ADA and C
