RCM Accounts Receivable Specialist – ABA Services

The Helm ABA is seeking an RCM Accounts Receivable Specialist to manage accounts receivable follow-up and charge entry processing for ABA services. The role focuses on enhancing the Revenue Cycle Management process while ensuring compliance with payor requirements.

Responsibilities

The RCM Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for accounts receivable follow-up and charge entry processing for ABA services
Responsible for the overall recovery and management of The Helm’s Revenue Cycle
Enhance all phases of Revenue Cycle Management, from charge entry through collections
Support company operations and client services by efficiently driving the RCM process and ensuring timely reimbursement
Report to the Vice President of Operations
Review, research, and resolve claim denials related to ABA services
Contact clients to obtain accurate insurance information
Phone appeals and reconsiderations for denied or rejected claims
Contact payors to verify detailed denial reasons, authorization issues, and benefit limitations
Submit and follow up on phone appeals and reconsiderations for denied or rejected claims
Identify and communicate denial and rejection trends specific to ABA billing to management
Identify and resolve discrepancies related to units, authorizations, modifiers, and provider credentials
Research payor medical and behavioral health reimbursement policies
Complete reconsideration and appeal forms in compliance with payor requirements
Review and process daily correspondence from payors and families
Ensure compliance with timely filing guidelines for assigned payors
Work with payor websites and portals to resolve claims
Manage and work aged accounts receivable according to established workflows
Perform EDI transactions and troubleshooting as needed (Central Reach and Salesforce preferred)
Participate in special projects and perform other assigned duties

Required

2–4 years of medical billing and collections experience preferred; ABA or behavioral health billing experience strongly preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of ABA-specific CPT codes (e.g., 97151–97158) and ICD-10 diagnosis codes
Experience with authorizations, units-based billing, and treatment plan requirements
Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicaid MCOs, commercial insurance, and behavioral health payors
Familiarity with ABA payor guidelines, service limitations, and medical necessity requirements
Must be familiar with financial reporting
Strong time management, organizational, and multitasking skills
Computer literate with experience navigating payor portals and billing systems
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Must adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations
