Payments Operations Specialist

Swoon is partnering with a leading FinTech client to hire a Payments Operations Specialist for a fully remote, 6-month contract engagement. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely processing of civil and regulatory requests that impact customer accounts and funds.

Responsibilities

Review and process civil legal documents, including garnishments, levies, liens, and information subpoenas, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and legal sufficiency
Analyze customer account information to determine whether accounts and funds are impacted by legal requests
Place, manage, and release holds on customer funds in accordance with legal requirements and established timelines
Prepare and submit formal written responses to courts, creditors, taxing authorities, attorneys, and other third parties
Assist customers with 1099-K tax form corrections and related inquiries
Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams and external stakeholders regarding case status and required actions
Maintain accurate documentation and tracking of all actions taken to support audits, escalations, and compliance reviews

Required

1–3 years of experience in a related role such as legal operations, compliance, financial operations, banking operations, or regulatory support
Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret and follow legal and regulatory documentation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High level of reading comprehension and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with Google Docs and Google Sheets or similar tools

Preferred

Experience processing garnishments, levies, liens, or subpoenas
Exposure to tax operations or 1099/1099-K forms
Background in fintech, banking, payments, or other regulated financial environments
