The role involves working closely with manufacturing, vendors, and engineering teams to support design validation, cost optimization, and shop-floor testing.

Responsibilities
Design mechanical components and assemblies with DFM/DFA principles
Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings
Strong exposure to surface modeling
Develop electrical drawings, wiring layouts, and functional diagrams
Execute VAVE initiatives for cost reduction and performance improvement
Design and validate parts used in boat systems (mechanical & electrical)
Work extensively with:
Siemens UG NX
Teamcenter PLM
SolidWorks
OBMS / SAP
QMS systems
Manage CAD data, BOMs, and documentation within PLM environments
Prepare detailed engineering drawings with GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
Review vendor drawings and technical documentation
Ensure compliance with engineering standards and manufacturing constraints
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure production-ready designs
Support root-cause analysis and process improvements
Provide technical guidance during fabrication, assembly, and testing
Perform hands-on testing of prototypes on the shop floor
Support fit, form, function, and durability validation
Document test results, failures, and corrective actions
Coordinate with vendors and review technical deliverables
Work closely with Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain
Participate in design reviews and project meetings
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
4+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design & manufacturing engineering
Strong proficiency in UG NX, Teamcenter, and SolidWorks
Hands-on experience in VAVE, cost optimization, and design validation
Expertise in 3D/2D modeling, GD&T, and engineering documentation
Understanding of electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and electromechanical integration
Experience with shop-floor testing and prototype builds
Strong communication, problem-solving, and vendor coordination skills
Preferred
Experience designing components for marine / boat applications
Knowledge of PLM, QMS, and OBMS tools
Familiarity with manufacturing processes: Machining
Familiarity with manufacturing processes: Sheet metal
Familiarity with manufacturing processes: Injection molding
Familiarity with manufacturing processes: Composite fabrication
