ABM Business Development Manager

Responsibilities
Strategic Account Mapping & Planning: Partner closely with Senior Account Executives to develop account-based prospecting plans for named retail accounts. Identify and prioritize key stakeholders, influencers, and decision-makers aligned to our Ideal Customer Profile (ICP). This is a targeted, precision-driven approach, not high-volume outbound
Execution & Optimization of ABM Plays: Rigorously execute our established library of account-based prospecting plays, including direct mail, personalized video outreach, event-driven engagement, and other multi-touch tactics. Once proficiency is demonstrated, contribute insights and recommendations to refine, document, and scale successful plays across additional accounts
Retail “Store Walk” Research Strategy: Conduct deep account research using our proprietary methodology, including physical store walks where applicable. Analyze store operations, labor execution, merchandising, and customer experience to identify specific, high-impact pain points that inform outreach and discovery conversations
High-Touch, Personalized Outreach: Craft and deliver highly personalized messaging informed by account research and stakeholder roles. Execute compelling creative hooks that cut through the noise, align to our brand voice, and clearly articulate relevant business value to retail executives
Discovery & Lead Qualification: Lead initial discovery conversations with engaged prospects to uncover operational challenges, business priorities, and buying intent. Qualify opportunities against our ICP and defined criteria before transitioning well-contextualized, sales-ready leads to Account Executives
Sales Partnership & Feedback Loop: Maintain tight alignment/collaboration with AEs through regular feedback, account reviews, and deal handoffs. Share insights from prospect conversations to strengthen account strategy, messaging, and downstream sales execution
Process Discipline & Performance Tracking: Follow defined prospecting processes, document activities and insights in CRM and ABM tools, and consistently report on performance, outcomes, and learnings to support continuous improvement
Qualification
Required
3-5 years developing, managing, executing ABM marketing programs that drive demand generation
Experience & Learning Aptitude: Open to candidates with 3-5 years of professional experience in sales, business development, marketing, retail, or a related field, or high-potential individuals from other industries who demonstrate strong aptitude, curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly. Grit & Resilience: Demonstrates persistence, resilience, and a strong work ethic. Willing to put in the effort required to master a new industry, overcome obstacles, and continuously improve performance. Retail Industry Acumen: Brings prior experience in retail, or a strong intellectual curiosity and working knowledge of retail operations, challenges, and decision-making environments. Comfortable engaging prospects on topics such as store operations, workforce management, and customer experience
Executive-Level Communication Skills: An articulate and confident communicator capable of engaging C-level executives and senior directors. Able to adapt messaging in real time, navigate complex conversations without reliance on a script, and clearly articulate value propositions aligned to business outcomes
