Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of lowboy trailer products from concept to production, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements
Utilize engineering principles and advanced solid modeling techniques to optimize trailer performance, durability, and functionality
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, operations, quality, and sales to support seamless product development and successful product launches
Conduct thorough design reviews, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to identify potential issues and implement mitigation strategies
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to product design, manufacturing processes, and cost-reduction efforts
Mentor and guide product specialists and engineers, promoting a culture of learning and development within the engineering team
Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements to support product development strategies
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on industry experience, preferably in heavy-duty transportation equipment with a focus on lowboy trailers
Proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo); SolidWorks strongly preferred
Experience working with finite element analysis (FEA) tools
Strong understanding of structural analysis, materials science, and manufacturing processes
Excellent problem-solving skills and high attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capability to collaborate across teams
Familiarity with regulatory standards such as: FMVSS 121 – Air Brake Systems, FMVSS 108 – Lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment, Hydraulics, pneumatics, and related industry best practices
