$28/hr - $28/hrBasin Electric Power Cooperative is seeking a Student Intern for their weld shop. The primary responsibility of this temporary position is to perform basic welding duties, operate weld shop equipment, and assist with various company functions.

Responsibilities
Print Reading, fabrication and pipe plate welding
Operate weld shop equipment, such as a bandsaw, pipe beveling machine, press brake, and welding positioner
Assist with other company functions, such as DGC Family Night
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Be at least 18 years of age
Be enrolled as a full-time student two-year Welding Technology program with two semesters completed, or recent graduate (within the past 12 months)
Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5
Hold a valid driver's license
Transcript required at time of application
Requires continuous walking; frequent standing, bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching above and below shoulder level; and occasional sitting, crawling, lifting 50 pounds from knee to shoulder high, pushing and pulling up to 60 pounds
Requires continuous use of tools and occasional turning of valves and use of foot controls
Requires grip strength of 45 pounds
The majority of the incumbent's shift is spent indoors
Occasionally requires working at heights from 10 to 100 feet and in high climbing areas on grating, ladders, scaffolding, and other area, which requires the use of safety equipment, including a harness, in accordance with ANSI Z359 standards
Continuously exposed to noise; frequently exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, chemicals, and extreme heat and cold, and occasionally exposed to vibration, poor ventilation, and confined areas
Incumbent is required to wear dust masks, respirators and full face Scott Air Paks when necessary
May occasionally be required to work rotating shifts
Requires good finger dexterity, good binocular vision, good color vision and hearing, and ability to speak
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
Must have the ability to perform close accurate work, communicate effectively with others, present information in a clear, concise manner and follow verbal and written instructions
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
Research and analytical thinking
