Responsibilities

Apply U.S. HTS, ECCN, Schedule B, and international codes (EU, UK, ASEAN, etc.) to Microchip products, following established procedures and using advanced regulatory knowledge
Review and analyze complex product specifications to ensure accurate product classification, including handling challenging or nuanced cases and escalating issues as appropriate
Draft and submit Commodity Classification Automated Tracking System (CCATS) requests, including supporting documentation for encryption items
Draft and submit U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) binding ruling requests
Work with engineering, product management, manufacturing, logistics, and sales teams to obtain technical data and product specifications required for accurate classification
Support junior analysts by sharing expertise and guidance as needed, contributing to a collaborative team environment
Provide classification-related support and guidance to customers
Maintain accurate classification records and supporting documentation in accordance with U.S. government and company requirements
Participate in periodic audits and reviews to ensure ongoing compliance with global trade regulations
Stay current on classification requirements and regulatory changes as directed by management

Required

BS degree with 3-5 years of experience, or 7-9 years of equivalent experience, in global trade compliance focused on import/export classification
Advanced working knowledge of Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Commerce Control List (CCL), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and the US Munitions List (USML)
Strong familiarity with HTS, ECCN, Schedule B, and other international classification systems
Demonstrated ability to interpret complex technical product information (e.g., schematics, datasheets, block diagrams) for regulatory purposes
Experience with classification and compliance applications (e.g., SNAP-R, USITC HTSUS) and ERP systems
Experience drafting and submitting CCATS requests, including Supplement No. 6 for encryption items
Superior organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support and share knowledge with team members
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in International Business/Trade, Supply Chain/Logistics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, CS, or Physics is preferred
Previous experience in the semiconductor industry
Knowledge of EU and ASEAN classification regulations and compliance requirements
Familiarity with logistics, import regulations, export filing requirements, and international shipping procedures
Working knowledge of SQL and experience with data visualization or analytics tools such as Tableau
