Responsibilities

Identify, write, edit, develop, and maintain high-quality and compelling content across a wide range of platforms which may include social media, website, email marketing efforts, online and print publications and video
Build public awareness and support for the research, extension, teaching and learning taking place in the Agronomy & Horticulture department
Play a key role in the strategic communication of the Agronomy & Horticulture department’s accomplishments and goals, as well as with recruitment and stakeholder engagement
Collaborate with Agronomy & Horticulture leadership, faculty, and staff to identify areas and projects of high priority and to gather information for content creation
Work closely with IANR Communications to identify and amplify compelling Agronomy & Horticulture stories of broad interest, as well as to share strategic IANR and UNL Communications messaging

Required

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field; additional relevant experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis
Experience with social media channels in a professional capacity
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to develop content for a range of marketing platforms
Strong written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills

Preferred

Familiarity with Agronomy & Horticulture
Familiarity with video/audio/photo production tools
Experience with web management and html
Familiarity with professional design tools
