Policy Development and Integration Intern (Law Student, Summer Start)
AARP is the nation's largest nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering people 50 and older. They are seeking a law school intern to assist in analyzing and developing public policies related to health, economic, and consumer issues that impact individuals aged 50 and older.

Responsibilities
Conduct objective legal and policy analysis and research of major federal, state, and local issues related to issues in the health, economic, and consumer portfolios
Write concise and well-reasoned memos, reports, and content for AARP’s online Policy Book as well as OPDI’s policy integration analysis of emerging policy and legal issues affecting consumers in the marketplace
Gather, organize, and analyze policy input from stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, and members
Support OPDI colleagues with other tasks, such as outreach and remote and in-person events
Participate in team meetings and strategy discussions
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited law school as a graduate or professional student and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship
Must have experience in public policy and legal analysis, and strong writing abilities, including the ability to summarize complex topics succinctly and clearly
Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
Candidates must have excellent legal analysis, research, and writing skills, as well as attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects at once under staff supervision
Regular and reliable job attendance
Exhibit respect and understanding of others to maintain professional relationships
Independent judgment in evaluation options to make sound decisions
Home office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate home environment noise
