Vehicle Performance Modeling Engineer, Drivetrain
Tesla is a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, and they are seeking a Vehicle Performance Modeling Engineer to join their powertrain architecture and modeling team. The role involves developing, utilizing, and validating vehicle models for performance evaluation and design guidance, while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
Advance the capabilities and intellectual property of Tesla’s in-house powertrain performance model
Work with the model to produce repeatable and dependable results for various stakeholders within the organization
Effectively communicate modeling study results to drive architecture and performance initiatives
Develop a consistent framework for reporting progress of model and component development as components go from conception to prototype to fully-production status
Qualification
Required
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
3+ years of experience in vehicle performance modeling
Excellent first-principles physics understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, power delivery, energy storage and transformation, thermodynamics, and fluids
Excellent understanding of main categories of electric motors, inverter operations, control strategies, and gearbox principal operation
Excellent understanding of performance parameters and loss mechanisms within a drivetrain
Experience with hybrid or electric powertrain component model development and data analysis in MATLAB/Simulink
Experience with advanced MATLAB script development and experience with large datasets and complicated models
Proficiency in numerical computation, differential equations, linear algebra, statistics, and optimization
Strong communication skills and preference for working in teams
