Intern, R&D Undergraduate Year Round - Tribal Education Partnership Program, IINA - Remote

Sandia National Laboratories is the nation’s premier science and engineering lab for national security and technology innovation, and they are seeking a Year Round Undergraduate R&D Intern to join their IINA team. This role offers motivated undergraduate students in STEM the opportunity to work alongside experts, developing and testing advanced materials, collaborating with engineering teams, and supporting advanced system development.

Responsibilities

Develop and test advanced materials as part of component science, engineering and production and presenting the data and results of these tests to Sandia engineering teams
Collaborate with design engineering and assurance engineering teams in the collection and analysis of data through observation and experimentation
Support advanced system development through code refresh and full-stack programming
Collect and analyze data using advanced characterization techniques including electrical testing
Collaborate on research papers, reports, and presentations

Required

Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, asylees or refugees in the U.S

Preferred

Currently attending and enrolled full time (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program at a Tribal College & University or a Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institution (NASNTI)
Pursuing an energy, cybersecurity, computer science, robotics, biological sciences, weapon engineering, additive manufacturing, or related major
Interest in Electric Power Systems research
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience with laboratory and/or field procedures and protocols
Ability to conduct independent research utilizing the web
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent oral and written skills and ability to work in a team environment
