Responsibilities

Assist with collecting operational and maintenance data for water and wastewater treatment facilities and collection systems
Support water and wastewater sampling activities in the field alongside operators and the Water Quality Specialist
Learn how to conduct full sets of laboratory tests for both water and wastewater systems under supervision
Observe and assist with routine water and wastewater treatment operations, maintenance activities, and basic troubleshooting
Learn about SCADA systems, including monitoring system data and observing adjustments made by certified operators
Receive daily work assignments through work orders and direction from Operators, Lead Operators, or Supervisors
Support administrative and operational tasks such as data entry, recordkeeping, and documentation related to compliance and operations
Become familiar with facility plans, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements for both water and wastewater systems
Accurately track time worked and tasks performed using established systems
Complete required documentation such as job hazard assessments, vehicle inspections, laboratory records, daily reports, and facility log books with training and oversight
Support other projects and responsibilities as requested

Required

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a water‑related, environmental, engineering, biology, chemistry, or technical program
Interest in learning about water and wastewater treatment operations
Willingness to follow safety procedures and work in a regulated, compliance‑driven environment
Strong attention to detail, especially when performing or assisting with sampling and laboratory work
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with a diverse team
Curiosity, dependability, and a desire to learn hands‑on technical and operational skills
Must be at least 18 years old
Have a high school diploma or equivalent
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Must successfully complete a background check, drug screening, professional reference check, previous employer verification, and education verification
Some positions may also require a credit check
Some roles may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions and require additional physical capabilities
Positions regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) may also have specific compliance requirements
