Postdoctoral Research Opportunity – Electrophysiology, Modern Circuit Interrogation Approaches, and/or Mouse Behavior
Northwestern Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking a postdoctoral research trainee/assistant to join the Mark Bevan Laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience. The role focuses on understanding basal ganglia microcircuits and developing therapies for Parkinson’s and Huntington’s diseases using various experimental approaches.

Responsibilities
Understand how basal ganglia microcircuits regulate movement, affect, and cognition
Investigate aspects of basal ganglia circuit dysfunction underlying the symptomatic expression of Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease
Use data to inform the development of therapies for Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease
Utilize mouse models of PD and HD in combination with several experimental approaches including in vivo and ex vivo electrophysiology, 2-photon imaging, molecular profiling, circuit mapping, optogenetics, chemogenetics, and mouse behavior
Qualification
Required
PhD in the life sciences, physics, or biomedical engineering
Research experience in neuroscience
Preferred
Expertise and/or interest in electrophysiology
Expertise and/or interest in modern circuit interrogation approaches
Expertise and/or interest in mouse behavior
