STAFF ASSISTANT (Special Administrative Assistant I) - Range 21/EXE
The Municipality of Anchorage is seeking a Staff Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the Mayor's Office. This role includes high-level financial support for contracting and purchasing, managing public records requests, and assisting with mayoral appointments.

Responsibilities
Provide the full range of administrative and clerical support to the Mayor's Office, including providing high-level financial support for contracting and purchasing for the Mayor's Office consistent with purchasing rules using SAP
Provide contracting and purchasing support for the mayor's community and arts grants
Conduct routine budget input and reporting
Provide support for mayor appointments to boards and commissions, and staff support to certain boards and commissions in the Mayor's Office
Serve as records manager and assist in responding to and filling public records requests, and respond to appeals of denials of records requests on behalf of the mayor
Draft routine correspondence, mayoral proclamations, other documents
Serve as one of the points of contact for external constituent communications to the Mayor's Office, and backs up receptionist/staff assistant
May serve as backup for scheduling for the Mayor and Chief of Staff
Other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and six (6) years of experience specific to the position
OR Associate's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or a similar discipline and four (4) years of experience specific to the position
OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or a similar discipline and two (2) years of experience specific to the position
OR Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or a similar discipline and experience specific to the position
Applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States
Preferred
Valid state of Alaska Driver's License
Experience as a receptionist, administrative assistant, scheduler
Experience with processing purchase orders and contracts in SAP
Experience processing and filing records
Experience with boards or commissions
