The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is seeking an Assistant Professor-In-Residence for the College of Engineering. The role involves teaching, curriculum development, and mentorship, with a focus on mechanical systems and technologies that support the entertainment and creative industries.

Responsibilities

Possess a strong background in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Entertainment Engineering, or a closely related field
Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence and meaningful industry experience relevant to areas such as themed entertainment, live production, attractions, stage systems, robotics, fabrication, and interactive installations
Engage in curriculum development, program assessment, student mentorship, and college and university service
Develop and deliver interdisciplinary, application oriented courses in areas such as additive manufacturing, mechanical fabrication, production systems, automation and control, mechatronics, and sustainable technology practices

Required

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Engineering or a closely related field by the time of appointment
The doctoral degree must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) must be obtained prior to the start date
Strong communication and leadership skills are essential
Preference will be given to candidates with prior college level teaching experience

Proven ability to develop and deliver well-structured, rigorous, and interdisciplinary courses
Evidence of effective, innovative, and creative instructional methods that promote active learning and critical thinking
