Responsibilities
Establish Function : Establishing and operationalizing a comprehensive approach to government defense contracting for the enterprise
Gap Analysis : Diagnose current contracting, compliance, and process issues to determine the most effective path forward for government defense contract engagement
Strategic Leadership : Lead and advise on DoW contracting strategy, execution, and compliance ensuring all applications and pathways are optimized for success
OTA Management : Support and lead work involving Other Transaction Authority (OTA) contracts , providing expert guidance on their application and execution
Operational Execution: Drive execution of the contracting lifecycle from initial setup and diagnosis through to delivery and compliance monitoring
Stakeholder Collaboration : Act as the primary subject matter expert for internal teams, providing direction on government defense acquisition processes and stakeholder management
Risk Mitigation : Identify and address potential legal and regulatory risks associated with U.S. defense contracting environments
Qualification
Required
7+ Years of experience in U.S. defense and government contracting
Deep knowledge of U.S. defense contracting environments, requirements, and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR/DFARS)
Hands-on experience executing or supporting DoW contracts under its Other Transaction Authority (OTA)
Ability to operate independently, set strategic direction, and build a function from the ground up with minimal oversight
Strong ability to diagnose complex process and compliance gaps and implement actionable solutions
Comprehensive understanding of government defense acquisition processes and key stakeholders within the DoW
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to lead cross-functional motions and advise senior leadership
Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance as necessary
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Business, Law, Public Policy) is required
Juris Doctor (JD)
Preferred
10-15+ years of experience as a senior practitioner with a proven track record of building and leading contracting functions
Significant experience working directly with DoW contracting requirements; prior experience working inside a government agency (ideally the DoW) is highly preferred
Demonstrated experience in high-level strategy development and the operationalization of new business motions
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., NCMA Certified Federal Contract Manager) are a plus
