Responsibilities
Design and develop HV and MV substations , including physical layouts, protection, and control systems
Prepare and review one-line diagrams, grounding layouts, relay settings, and control schematics
Perform electrical system studies including load flow, short circuit, and coordination analysis
Develop technical specifications, bill of materials (BOM), and construction drawings
Ensure designs comply with IEEE, ANSI, NESC, NEC, and utility standards
Coordinate with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
Provide technical support during construction, testing, and commissioning phases
Conduct site visits and assist with field engineering activities
Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk assessments
Utilize tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, SKM , or similar software
Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in substation engineering
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
3–4 years of experience in substation design or substation project engineering
Strong knowledge of: Power systems and substations
Transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and relays
Protection & control systems
SCADA and communication networks
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred
EIT certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license
Experience working on utility or renewable energy projects
