Responsibilities

Advise clients on vehicles for presenting information
Ensure information is researched and written for accurate, concise, interesting presentation
Assist supervisor with development of video strategies to achieve client objectives
Complete all paperwork for each assignment at completion
Clean, maintain and perform minor repairs to video equipment
Assist department and agency employees with basic script writing and storyboarding techniques to produce specific small audience presentations or to use for developing into large scale productions
Train employees on how to properly use and maintain video equipment for basic video footage acquisition
Manage video production projects including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating logistics and resources effectively
Advise clients on proper video production and editing techniques while on location or in the studio
Consult with clients on minor and simple video production to determine the desired finished product
Troubleshoot technical issues including malfunctions related to camera, lighting, and audio to ensure efficient production
Edit, author and incorporate raw video, audio, music, text, still and computer-generated images and other communication materials into minor productions
Document and track all work on work log
Retain raw video for assigned projects
Back up all project related data on disk including projects, programs, bins and MPEGs
Produce video by acquiring footage with appropriate locations, backgrounds, narration, music, lighting, props, and photographic, sound and video equipment
Edit, author and incorporate raw video, audio, music, text, still images and computer-generated graphics into productions ensuing high quality and polished results
Back up all project and program-related items, including archived materials
Ensure retention of raw video for assigned projects
Align create video concepts with business objectives, contributing to project and brand strategy
Ensures production follows industry standards, regulations, and best practices including copyright laws, contracts, and ethical considerations

Required

Produce high-quality videos and/or photography to support VDOT's engineering, education, communications, and marketing activities
Provide additional video support and assist the lead videographer
Fulfill high priority and high visibility assignments that include the Governor's Office, Cabinet offices, VDOT and other federal, state, and local agencies and routine assignments

Skill in the use and maintenance of broadcast-quality video equipment
Skill in the use of computers and software applications
Skill in the use of video editing and storage applications
Skill in video and still composition
Ability to align creative video concepts with business objectives
Ability to apply attention to detail in all aspects of videography
Ability to craft compelling narratives through visual storytelling, including scriptwriting, storyboarding, and understanding of pacing and structure
Knowledge of post-production editing such as cutting, color grading, sound design, and visual effects
Skill in capturing high quality audio and editing techniques
Skill in directing actors, presenters, and crew
Skill in the use of camera equipment and accessories including camera settings, shooting techniques, framing, composition, and focus
Skilled in managing video production projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating logistics and resources effectively

Preferred

A combination of training, experience, or education in Video Production, Broadcasting, Communications or related field desired
Experience in videography in a public relations or government environment
