Responsibilities
Review and edit technical documents, including system manuals, user guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical specifications
Ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to organizational and industry standards
Correct grammar, formatting, and technical terminology for consistency across all documents
Maintain version control and ensure proper document lifecycle management
Verify compliance with IT security and regulatory standards (e.g., NIST, DoD, ISO)
Prepare documents for publication and distribution in digital and print formats
Work closely with IT teams, developers, and project managers to clarify technical details
Coordinate with technical writers and subject matter experts to resolve discrepancies and improve content quality
Develop and enforce editorial guidelines and templates for IT documentation
Identify gaps in existing documentation and recommend updates or new content
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Information Technology, or related field
SECRET security clearance
3+ years of experience in technical editing or writing within an IT environment
Familiarity with IT systems, networking, cybersecurity, and software development terminology
Strong editorial and proofreading skills with attention to detail
Proficiency in documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint, Adobe FrameMaker, MS Office)
Ability to interpret complex technical information and present it clearly
Preferred
Knowledge of IT compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ITIL, DoD standards)
Familiarity with content management systems and version control tools (e.g., Git)
Strong organizational and communication skills
