Responsibilities
Co-plan and co-teach engaging, age-appropriate outdoor programs aligned with camp goals and objectives
Lead educational activities in areas such as ecology, wildlife studies, sensory exploration, and nature-based crafts
Communicate with guardians regarding camper needs, safety updates, medical or dietary considerations, and daily highlights
Foster a safe, inclusive, organized, and positive learning environment
Communicate regularly with administrative staff and fellow camp team members
Provide additional staffing support as needed to maintain appropriate camper-to-staff ratios
Supervise campers to ensure their safety and well-being at all times
Follow and enforce all camp policies, rules, and procedures
Provide first aid in accordance with camp protocols
Serve as a positive role model for Environmental Educator Assistants, youth volunteers, and campers
Provide guidance, feedback, and support to assistants and volunteers
Collaborate with assistants to develop and lead program activities
Qualification
Required
Associate degree with concentration in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Science Education or a closely related field
One year of experience developing or conducting environmental education and interpretive programs for the general public, schools and/or youth groups, or performing other similar duties
Equivalent combination of education and related experience
First Aid and CPR certification (training will be provided)
Preferred
Knowledge of local ecology, plant and wildlife identification, and/or natural history
Enthusiasm for connecting people with nature
Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
