The NYS Office of Information Technology Services provides operational support for over 4,900 applications across New York State Agencies. The Information Technology Specialist 2 will design, develop, and maintain web services, ensuring adherence to architecture, programming, and UI/UX standards while participating in code reviews and application design reviews.

Responsibilities
Deploy solutions on various server platforms (JBoss, WAS, TomCat, IIS, ColdFusion, etc.)
Assist with the development and support of the source code repository and continuous integration environment for the application development team
Participate in code reviews and ensure code meets architecture, programming and UI/UX standards
Write Scripts to identify duplicate email accounts based on CSV input
Document hypothesis, test conditions, test results, and summary information
Write code to organize Archive email migration data into valid batch file loads
Participate in application design reviews
Estimate time and resource needs for new projects
Participate in defining standards and performing code reviews, and will perform all work in accordance with architecture, programming, and user experience standards
Qualification
Required
Candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list for this title in order to be list appointed
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming)
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title allocated SG-16 or higher eligible to transfer under Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law
Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications and a current 55b/c eligibility letter
Candidates must satisfy at least one of the following: Either 1. a bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science; Or 2. a bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field AND one year of experience in information technology; Or 3. 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science AND one year of experience in information technology; Or 4. two years of experience in information technology
Fingerprinting and a background check is required for employment with ITS
Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs
