Responsibilities
Assist with performing landscape architecture design and project management duties to complete complex architectural projects for new and rehabilitation of building plans and designs
Prepare landscape architecture drawings and details, specifications, estimates, and/or studies for design projects under the direction of licensed staff
Prepare and coordinate design drawings and related specifications, construction costs estimates, etc., with the other disciplines
Assist in scheduling assigned projects according to workload, priorities, and design schedules
Assist in the review of reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates prepared by design consultants
Assist with the supervision of consultant design work
Develop and maintain project documentation, including records of meetings, correspondence, and progress
Collaborate with senior designers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are met
Assist in review of submittals, respond to contractor Requests for Information, create and/or review Information Bulletins, and provide similar construction administration and observation during the project’s construction
Assist with supervision of junior staff
Additional duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Successful completion of Sections 1 and 2 of the New York Landscape Architect Registration Examination (LARE) and one year of experience planning and designing landscape development and site improvement projects, overseeing the construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of outdoor spaces and other open areas for transportation facilities, buildings, parks, historic sites, recreational facilities, campuses, gardens, playgrounds, and roads and highways
Successful completion of 52 weeks of service as a Landscape Architect Trainee and successful completion of Sections 1 and 2 of the LARE
Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to an Assistant Engineer (Civil) and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law
Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver's License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required
