Responsibilities
Coordinated scheduling of all OR surgeries and procedures
Monitored front office workflow and adjusted processes to ensure optimal service delivery
Verified patient demographics and obtained insurance pre-certifications for surgical cases
Secured patient medical clearances prior to scheduled procedures
Resolved patient inquiries and concerns regarding policies, procedures, and scheduling
Placed surgical confirmation calls one day prior to scheduled surgery or procedure
Scheduled post-operative follow-up appointments with providers
Served as liaison between referring physicians and surgeons to exchange clinical data and determine OR scheduling
Recorded hospital reservations and pre-admission data in the Cerner system
Collected and distributed required surgical documentation to internal and external stakeholders
Trained and mentored other Surgical Scheduling Coordinators and junior staff
Performed additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations
Qualification
Required
Minimum of two (2) years of surgical scheduling experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent customer service skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
High School Diploma
Preferred
Associate's Degree
Certificate in Medical Technology
ICD-9 Certification
CPT Coding Certification
Bilingual
