Responsibilities

Serve as the steward of all campus utilities, buildings, grounds, and infrastructure related to facility operations. Enforce the highest possible standards for a safe, comfortable, effective, and efficient working and learning environment while forecasting future needs and setting long-term operational paths
Facilitate, coordinate, and represent operations and maintenance input to the project design and construction teams. This would be accomplished by participation on all major capital "working group" meetings and executive committee meetings; design submittal reviews; coordinating with the campus engineers and operations staff to ensure all operations and maintenance comments and feedback are considered and providing feedback back to the shops. Provide continued involvement throughout the construction, inspection, testing, acceptance testing , and occupancy
Collaborate with senior managers within the department and in AFD in establishing and monitoring long and short-term goals and setting department priorities that align with Cal Poly’s academic strategic plan and physical master plan
Provide exemplary leadership and clear direction to management team ensuring effective prioritization, development, and assessment of operational programs and projects to achieve industry-leading results
Approve and monitor annual operating budgets exceeding $30 million, including state, housing, re-charge, and utilities funding

Required

Master's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field AND eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in planning, organizing, and directing a large maintenance workforce
Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain by date of hire
