Tax Analyst

LHH is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Tax Analyst to manage and optimize clients’ tax compliance and recovery programs across the United States. This role involves ensuring compliance with tax regulations, identifying recovery opportunities, and collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Oversee and maintain tax documentation for multiple clients across various U.S. jurisdictions
Ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
Research and interpret tax statutes to support compliance and planning initiatives
Lead initiatives to identify and recover overpaid or unclaimed taxes
Analyze historical transactions and identify tax refund opportunities
Develop and manage project timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communications
Track and report project progress and financial recovery outcomes
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding tax compliance, reporting, and issue resolution
Collaborate with internal departments (Accounting, Finance, Operations, Legal) to ensure alignment and efficiency
Communicate with external vendors or partners to verify tax documentation and eligibility
Maintain strong relationships to facilitate accurate tax processing and compliance
Prepare regular reports on tax recovery progress, compliance trends, and financial impacts
Identify opportunities to improve compliance processes and reduce tax exposure
Contribute to developing internal best practices and process automation initiatives

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
4+ years of experience in tax compliance, tax analysis, or related project management
Strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws and regulatory frameworks
Proven project management experience, including planning, tracking, and reporting on cross-functional initiatives
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage relationships across clients and internal teams
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and analytical problem-solving abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project management tools
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

Experience working with multi-jurisdictional tax regulations or exemption processing
Project management certification (e.g., CAPM, PMP) is a plus but not required
