Purchasing Supervisor

Responsibilities

Adheres to Purchasing policies, processes, current warehouse and inventory policies and procedures
Receive shop, (Production orders) and customer service requisitions, (Part orders); analyze for quantity, specifications, and delivery requirements
Consolidate requirements and develop the most suitable method of purchasing, such as spot buying, contracts, blanket orders, purchase card orders, and supplier stocking arrangements
Evaluate suppliers through methods such as supplier visitations and various objective performance measurements, including on-time delivery, service performance, data trends, and price performance
Utilize Evapco Quality Control systems to report, analyze, and conduct root cause analysis, (Nonconformities Reports, and Quality Assurance Reports)
Works with vendors/suppliers to resolve any warranty or failed/defective items parts or materials, (Return Material Authorizations)
Generate effective communication, good relations, and a positive image with suppliers and coworkers, promoting courtesy, objectivity, and fairness
Occasionally visit suppliers and/or pick up parts
Use and read tape measures, dial calipers, and thickness gauges
Responsible for the direct management of the purchasing team of buyers, and purchasing assistant
Responsible for resolving any major quality, delivery, or service issues within the supply chain and ensuring a permanent resolution is put in place
Leads the team with purchasing planning and inventory control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data trends
Negotiates the pricing level of locally sourced items
Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; forwards orders to vendors/suppliers; monitors and expedites orders
Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; Resolves any receiving errors or freight issues with the supplier.; forwards receiving documentation for payment
Daily interaction with production and quality to ensure timely delivery and resolve any materials concerns
Provides purchasing planning and inventory control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data trends
Lead Supply Chain initiatives for Madera and actively participate in various improvement and launch teams within the facility and company
Lead position on inventory control projects throughout the facility to accomplish goals and tasks
Oversee steel scrap collection, tracking and assist with driving down scrap rates
Develop best practices to improve material flow in and out of the plant
Take initiative to obtain training and stay abreast of state-of-the-art technologies in product, Supply Chain, and Purchasing practices
Develop direct reports with best practices and create a mentoring process
Provide back-up administrative support to other departments, as requested. Warehouse and Yard
May perform other duties, as assigned
Overtime/Weekend work as needed. Manager’s discretion based on workload and staffing levels

Required

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Must have strong analytical and critical thinking skills
The ability to multitask, prioritize commitments, manage time effectively, and work independently to meet time-sensitive deadlines
Valid CA or US state-issued class C driver's license
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected as this role performs a wide variety of complicated tasks
Must be detail-oriented, possess excellent organizational skills, and can work independently with a minimal level of supervision
Complete understanding of the production process and equipment application
A minimum of 5 years' work experience with proven ability to learn new skills and responsibilities
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, ERP systems (Sage100, SAP, Oracle, etc.)

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, General Business, or appropriately related field preferred
Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), is preferred
Purchasing experience preferred
