Responsibilities
Defend ski resorts and related entities in complex civil litigation matters
Handle cases involving:
Personal injury and wrongful death
Premises liability and negligence
Skiing, snowboarding, lift operations, and mountain recreation activities
Analyze and apply ski safety statutes, assumption-of-risk doctrines, and liability limitations
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal memoranda
Conduct and defend expert depositions
Represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, and trials
Independently manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution
Collaborate with attorneys across practice groups and offices
Communicate directly with clients and provide regular case status updates
Stay current on developments in recreation law, tort law, and regulatory compliance
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active admission to the California Bar
8-15 years of civil litigation defense experience, preferably in: General liability, Catastrophic injury, Premises liability, Personal injury or insurance defense
Trial experience required
Strong analytical, written, and oral advocacy skills
Preferred
Experience with recreational accident litigation and liability waivers
Exposure to ski resorts, mountain operations, outdoor recreation providers, or amusement operators
