Postvention Response Psychologist

USAJOBS is part of the Defense Human Resources Activity and will transition to the Defense Health Agency in FY27. The Postvention Response Psychologist will be responsible for postvention response initiatives and large-scale tracking across the Department of Defense (DoD) and with public and private partners to identify evidence-based efforts applicable to the culture and practices of the DoD.

Responsibilities

Oversee administration and maintenance of the Suicide Response Team (SRT) reporting database, implementing quality control measures to ensure information remains both current and accurate based on policy and SRT procedures
Performs a broad range of duties related to planning, executing, guiding, translating, and implementing Public Health suicide prevention and postvention initiatives for Service members and their families
Serves as a technical authority and subject matter expert (SME) of suicide prevention and postvention projects and tracking of incoming SRT reports, long-term strategic goals and objectives for postvention response and evaluate current policy, training, educational, and response activities
Conduct comprehensive analysis of changes to legislation, policies, regulations, and directives, evaluating their potential impact on existing postvention efforts. Based on research and impact assessments, provide strategic advice and actionable guidance regarding program adjustments and operational responses
Develop and implement program projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives defined in the postvention and lived experience goals
Writes reports, papers, and prepares and delivers briefings that describe postvention efforts for DoD leadership and other senior leaders, both for technical and non-technical audiences
Coordinates and communicates suicide prevention and postvention matters with other DoD components, the Military Services, other Federal Departments, to include DoD-wide and inter-agency working groups and committees

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service
Develops and implements non-clinical, suicide prevention and postvention response efforts in line with the Public Health approach to suicide prevention, with expertise in various strategic methods
Develops and conducts Postvention response evaluation development, design, implementation and translation of findings
Coordinates and works with other DoD components, the Military Services, and/or other government agencies, to include serving on cross-agency or inter-agency working groups/committees
Bachelor's degree (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) in psychology
You MUST provide transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level
