The UW School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a Data Scientist to support the Wisconsin Imaging-based Screening and Cancer Research Network. This role involves managing clinical data to improve breast cancer screening and treatment outcomes while collaborating with a team of researchers.

Responsibilities

Composes and assembles reproducible workflows and reports to clearly articulate patterns to researchers and/or administrators

Documents approaches to address research questions

Implements appropriate data science techniques under the guidance of other data scientists, statisticians, and/or other researchers to find data patterns and answer research questions chosen by the lead researcher including data visualization, statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining

Assists in basic project management tasks including IRB and DUA applications

Prepares data sets for analysis including cleaning/quality assurance, transformations, restructuring, and integration of multiple data sources

Organizes and automates project steps for data preparation and analysis

Required

Experience with managing large clinical datasets, including extracting and curating data from Epic or similar electronic medical records

Experience with imaging-related data management, including curation of large imaging datasets for research purposes

Preferred

Proficiency in data management and statistical analysis applications including SQL and SAS

Experience with managing project IRB applications and data use agreements with external research partners
