Strategy Director - Marketing
Grey Matter is seeking an experienced Strategy Director to lead a high-performing team in developing and executing innovative client acquisition strategies for B2B clients. This role involves strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and data-led innovation to drive measurable marketing outcomes.
Responsibilities
Oversee the formulation and implementation of comprehensive customer acquisition strategies for a portfolio of clients, aligning these with their broader business and marketing objectives
Provide expert leadership and mentorship to the team ensuring their professional growth and alignment with Grey Matter's strategic approach
Focus the team on client retention and value delivery and implement strategies to ensure clients don’t churn
Create a culture of accountability among the team, with ownership and responsibility for campaign success and retention objectives
Follow Grey Matter's strategic processes, protocols, and deliverables, ensuring consistency and excellence across the team
Conduct training for the team as needed, ensuring full understanding and implementation of existing processes or new tools
Regularly review and update strategic approaches to maintain alignment with industry standards and client needs
Work closely with clients and internal teams to craft data-driven marketing strategies, integrating the high-converting message framework with a full-funnel approach encompassing various channels, tactics, and customer touchpoints
Drive innovation within the team, staying abreast of the latest industry trends, tools, and best practices to keep Grey Matter ahead in the field of demand generation
Lead campaign performance data gathering and discussions, and collaborate with Grey Matter subject matter experts to refine and optimize sprint plans to deliver client results that align to campaign objectives
Be curious, seeking to understand (proactively!) how campaigns are performing and explain variances, good or bad, with actionable insights and recommendations
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, positioning yourself and Grey Matter as trusted advisors and thought leaders in customer acquisition
Regularly engage with clients to discuss strategic opportunities, business priorities, and solicit feedback for continuous improvement
Lead client onboarding, sprint planning, and ongoing strategic support, answering the questions of “what,” “so what,” and “now what.”
Collaborate with Grey Matter's leadership team to foster a seamless working environment
Nurture team members to develop professionally through positive experiences and skill enhancement
Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Grey Matter to develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns that yield tangible results for clients
Organize and visualize the priorities from the client in a way that clearly reflects the road map for each 90-day sprint cycle
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field
8+ years of experience in customer acquisition, demand generation, or a similar role within a B2B marketing environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity
Proven track record of developing and executing successful customer acquisition strategies that drive growth and meet client objectives
Strong understanding of B2B demand generation strategies, tactics, and best practices, as well as the platforms that support these efforts
Ability to develop an insight-led and repeatable/efficient process for the team
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present complex information to clients and team members
Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights. A real desire to understand the insights in the data and use those insights to improve campaigns
Leadership experience, with a focus on fostering a positive and growth-oriented team culture
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
