Sr. Data Center Support Technician
Ampstek is a global IT solutions partner serving clients across various regions, and they are seeking a Sr. Data Center Support Technician. This role involves providing Level 2 infrastructure support in a 24×7 data center environment, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of data center hardware.
Responsibilities
Provide on-site Level 2 support for data center infrastructure incidents, service requests, and problem tickets related to physical hardware and facilities
Install, rack, stack, cable, label, and decommission servers, storage systems, and network equipment in accordance with data center standards and documentation
Perform structured cabling activities including copper and fiber patching, tracing, and cleanup
Provision and verify power connections (A/B feeds), PDUs, and power redundancy for IT equipment
Act as “hands and feet” support for remote engineering teams by executing detailed procedures and change tasks
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware failures including disk replacements, power supply swaps, fan replacements, and component reseating
Support hardware installations, upgrades, migrations, and decomissioning activities
Monitor and maintain proper environmental conditions including temperature, humidity, airflow, and physical security compliance
Coordinate with Network, Cloud, Systems, and Storage teams to support maintenance windows and planned changes
Perform visual inspections and physical health checks of data center infrastructure
Manage asset lifecycle processes including inventory tracking, labeling, asset audits, and CMDB updates
Coordinate with vendors for hardware diagnostics, RMAs, replacements, and on-site support engagements
Ensure adherence to data center safety procedures, access controls, and operational standard
Qualification
Required
