Meat Department Manager
Boise Co-op Market is seeking a Meat Department Manager to oversee all aspects of department operations. The role involves managing staffing, production, merchandising, and compliance to uphold food safety standards and enhance customer experience.

Responsibilities
Manage all daily operations of the Meat Department, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management
Ensure compliance with Boise Co-op standards, State and Health Department regulations, and all food safety and sanitation requirements
Achieve or exceed department sales, labor, shrink, and margin goals as defined by the Senior Leadership Team
Oversee production quality, freshness, and merchandising across all service and Grab & Go cases to maintain excellent presentation and variety
Maintain appropriate inventory levels, manage ordering schedules, and ensure accurate monthly inventory counts to control waste and support profitability
Develop, coach, and motivate employees to foster professionalism, accountability, and a supportive workplace culture
Lead by example by promoting teamwork, strong communication, and world-class customer service
Implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, sales performance, and overall profitability
Ensure all equipment, work areas, and display cases are properly maintained, sanitized, organized, and fully compliant with safety standards
Operate and oversee the safe use of meat processing equipment while enforcing adherence to rotation procedures and safety protocols
Qualification
Required
Expert understanding of meat department operations, product variety, and vendor relationships
Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills with the ability to drive high performance
Ability to analyze and act on key performance metrics to improve department outcomes
Comprehensive knowledge of food safety laws, sanitation practices, and regulatory compliance
Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills under pressure
Integrity, professionalism, and a strong commitment to Co-op values and customer service
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related business software
Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Three or more years of experience as a Department Manager in a retail environment required
Three or more years of experience working in a meat department required
Valid Food Handler's Certificate required
Must successfully pass a criminal background check
Preferred
ServSafe Manager Certification preferred
