Responsibilities

Serves as the fleet program manager for various programs and systems, as assigned
Oversees and provides mentoring direction to the system engineers and managers within their area and provides authoritative decisions and recommendations on behalf of TVA regarding critical and/or controversial issues related to their engineering specialty/field
Consults, negotiates, and commits TVA resources, engineering support and professional cooperation with senior management personnel, management-level officers from other companies, and policy-making representatives from regulatory and professional engineering organizations
Is responsible for one or more programs or program components of such magnitude, diversity, and scope that their technical performance is of critical importance to NPG's overall engineering objectives
Provides fleet governance in their respective area by developing and maintaining policies, program procedures, practices, and definitive metrics to achieve desired outcomes consistent with industry best performance in their field
Provides fleet oversight of responsible areas by monitoring work, performance, and site metrics to ensure desired outcomes are met
Provide program management and serves as an industry-recognized leader, expert, and technical consultant in their field
Is accountable and influential for TVA’s interests on industry committees for regulatory issues, research, and the future of the US Nuclear industry with authority to speak for the Agency
May hold the chairmanship or other high position on these committees
Participates in the development of long-range planning involving large fiscal expenditures for NPG facilities
Supports troubleshooting or issue resolution efforts as needed and ensures an appropriate level of rigor is applied to technical products
Provides technical consultation to Nuclear, Fossil, Hydro and Transmission
Understands, develops, and provides interpretations of engineering regulations, policies and industry standards and provides the final decision on these matters
Maintains engineering requirements documents in areas of expertise
Provides overall technical conscience, experience, industry involvement and guidance
Works as an individual contributor or as a team leader in planning, organizing, and overseeing the work of specialist level engineers in an intensely specialized field and may be assigned to rotate to each nuclear site to assist in outages
Serves on the emergency response team in various positions as needed providing technical guidance to mitigate/resolve the emergency, and interfaces with vendors, and local/state/federal agencies

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university
Ten years of experience associated with the design, construction, maintenance, and/or operation of a power generating plant with at least 4 years of experience in the nuclear power industry
Extensive experience in interfacing with other engineering disciplines, expertise into the engineering process, and a broad exposure to major problems/issues with demonstrated ability for their identification and resolution
Individuals at this level must demonstrate a high degree of foresight, strategic consideration, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering complexities
Must be able to obtain and maintain requirements for nuclear plant unescorted access
Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions

Preferred

An advanced degree is highly desirable
Professional Engineering License and/or SRO certification is desirable
