Responsibilities
Read, interpret, and determine applicability of national and international codes and standards clauses for the EUT (Equipment Under Test)
Review and understand electrical and mechanical schematics, drawings, and manufacturing instructions
Define project scope and identify, locate, and specify test instruments, equipment, and resources required for testing
Develop and follow established test plans; conduct construction reviews; create evaluation reports; conduct and/or witness testing; and resolve technical and administrative issues related to power electronics and renewable energy standards
Set up and operate standard test equipment, including but not limited to:
Temperature/Humidity chambers
Programmable power supplies
PLCs or other controllers
Pneumatic, hydraulic, or electric actuators
AC/DC power supplies and electronic loads
Oscilloscopes, multimeters, dielectric strength testers, ground continuity testers
Surge generators, over-voltage testers
Environmental condition chambers and articulated probes
Use hand tools to build, modify, and calibrate test fixtures as required
Perform product testing in accordance with applicable standards. Core testing may include:
Battery cycling (charge/discharge)
Temperature and humidity soak or cycling
Durability and endurance cycling
Voltage and current measurements
Dielectric, pressure, and abnormal/fault condition simulations
Environmental testing such as rain, dust, and corrosion
Compile and analyze test results during construction review and testing phases
Prepare final data packages, product descriptions, and type test reports using established report templates; submit reports for internal review and final approval
Communicate project status, risks, and test results clearly and effectively to clients, sales teams, and management throughout the project lifecycle
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians
Support quoting and scoping activities by providing input on project duration, site needs, rental equipment, sample requirements, and applicable standards
Provide sales and customer support, including participation in client meetings, site visits, and ongoing technical consultations as needed
Perform additional duties as required to support business and project needs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on electrical circuits, renewable energy, or power electronics
5–7+ years of experience in a directly related field
Prior direct experience in the renewable energy and/or energy storage industry
Demonstrated hands-on knowledge of U.S., Canadian, and international product safety standards, including but not limited to: UL 9540 / UL 9540A, UL 1741, UL 3141, UL 1973, ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, and IEC standards
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
Customer-focused mindset with a strong commitment to quality and technical excellence
Willingness and ability to travel as business needs dictate (approximately 25%–50%)
Valid driver's license and reliable driving record
