Chief Marketing Officer

Our Free Water Store is a fast-growing crypto and digital asset startup backed by Hillhouse Capital. They are seeking a strategic Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to lead global marketing, brand, growth, and user acquisition initiatives, while defining the go-to-market strategy and building brand credibility in the crypto and fintech ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Define and execute the company’s global marketing and brand strategy across crypto, fintech, and digital asset markets
Own go-to-market (GTM) strategy for new products, features, and market expansion initiatives
Build and scale performance marketing, user acquisition, retention, and lifecycle marketing
Establish brand positioning, messaging, and thought leadership in Web3, crypto, and financial innovation
Lead content, PR, community, partnerships, and ecosystem growth initiatives
Develop data-driven growth strategies across paid, organic, influencer, affiliate, and partnership channels
Partner with Compliance and Legal to ensure all marketing activities meet regulatory requirements in the U.S. and global markets
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing global marketing organization
Define marketing KPIs, attribution models, CAC/LTV frameworks, and growth dashboards
Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to align roadmap with market demand and user feedback

Required

10+ years of senior marketing leadership experience in fintech, crypto, Web3, SaaS, or financial services
Proven experience building and scaling global brands and growth engines in high-growth or early-stage environments
Strong understanding of crypto markets, digital assets, DeFi, exchanges, wallets, or blockchain infrastructure
Demonstrated success in performance marketing, GTM strategy, and multi-channel growth
Experience operating in regulated environments and partnering with Compliance/Legal teams
Track record of building and leading high-impact marketing teams
Strong analytical mindset with fluency in growth metrics, funnels, and attribution
Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills

Preferred

Experience scaling a startup from early stage to Series B+ or later
Background in institutional crypto, prime brokerage, or digital asset platforms
Existing relationships with media, KOLs, influencers, and Web3 communities
Experience building global brand presence across North America, APAC, and Europe
