Responsibilities
Coordinates with the underwriting support team to bind agreed upon policies
Communicates effectively with external clientele and internal resource partners telephonically, via electronic correspondence and if appropriate, in the field
Contributes to productive agency relationships and client retention
Ensures deadlines are met and prompt responses are provided
Occasionally accompanies other Underwriters and Marketing Managers to local agency visits, and if appropriate, overnight to more distant locations, aimed at learning and promoting improved agency relationships
Performs special assignments and projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Risk Management, Business, Economics, or related discipline
Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and able to become adept with proprietary and vended software applications
Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations
Able to write detailed reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
Able to effectively present information to management and public groups
Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
Able to apply concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Preferred
A minimum of 2 years of experience in an underwriting support role (e.g., Underwriting Technician role) or Small Business Underwriting, preferably within the workers' compensation industry
