Responsibilities
Manage outside design consultants (cost, schedule, design standards)
Review new line and facility documentation: one-line diagrams, network architecture, control panel design, device layouts, sequence of operation, scopes of work
Manage electrical design firm qualification, selection, and hiring (RFP process)
Manage electrical contractor qualification and hiring
Drive continuous cost and quality improvements in system designs and maintain up-to-date knowledge of leading-edge technologies that will support business needs
Maintain electrical and controls specifications
Negotiate purchase of electrical equipment (Switchgear, PDP’s, PLC controls)
Assist project management with design solutions for field issues
This is a functional leadership position that interacts closely and supports Operations, Quality Assurance, Innovation & Renovation, Marketing, and Logistics with electrical system design and optimization
Must be capable of managing outside firms to meet obligations of executing all assigned projects
Must be capable of leverage technical expertise in support of factory operation for system optimization and troubleshooting
The Senior Design Manager reports directly to the Engineering Group Manager - Facilities and Electrical and has a support responsibility to project managers
Travel: 50% (Could be as much as two days per week, three times per month, initially until system understanding is achieved)
Qualification
Required
Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering/Engineering Technology or equivalent
Requires strong Technical, Managerial, and Leadership ability with exceptional facilitation and communication skills
8+ years' experience implementing projects in a similar environment
Highly motivated, well organized, goal oriented and capable of operating alone, with minimal direct supervision
This position requires excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
Must be a team player and have strong abilities to lead and participate in project teams and be able to demonstrate capability in managing multiple projects simultaneously
Must be proficient in the use of common software platforms including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint) and AutoCAD for the preparation of presentation and working documents
Working knowledge / development experience of Allen Bradley PLC code and Device-Net programming
Working knowledge / development experience of SCADA programming (GE Fanuc / Intellution and/or Wonderware)
Working knowledge of networks
