Communications and Development Manager

FOR-SITE is dedicated to the creation, understanding, and presentation of art about place. The Communications & Development Manager is responsible for cultivating FOR-SITE’s visibility, engagement, and philanthropic support, managing public presence and fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities

Oversee the creation and distribution of publicly disseminated communications, including newsletters, press releases, exhibition and event collateral, and social media content, ensuring consistent, professional messaging and effectively executing communication strategy
Manage day-to-day press operations and correspondence; including generating and circulating press kits
Coordinate FOR-SITE’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram) in collaboration with contracted digital strategist and content producer
Maintain and update the FOR-SITE website and digital platforms; liaise with Graphic Designer on web updates and the production of digital assets and print collateral
Maintain and administer the donor and prospect database (Neon One)
Develop and oversee a mid-level giving program that will engage new supporters
Manage gift processing, donor acknowledgment, benefit fulfillment, and financial reporting. Record, deposit, and reconcile donations and grant awards
Working with the Development Consultant, prepare materials and copy for donor solicitations, as well as grant proposals, sponsorship decks, annual reports, and other organizational communications
Support donor research and communications, tracking the progress of proposals and outreach initiatives
Working closely with the ED, manage board engagement, including scheduling and coordinating regular meetings
Coordinate and support fundraising initiatives and events, including art fairs, cultivation events, and travel programs
Help to identify, pursue, and manage additional fundraising/revenue opportunities
Provide administrative and on-site support for donor cultivation events, exhibition openings, and public programs
Assist the Development Consultant in planning and executing fundraising and hospitality events
Coordinate hospitality logistics, including guest lists, RSVPs, catering, and vendor communication
Help produce special events that advance FOR-SITE’s visibility and donor engagement
Represent FOR-SITE with professionalism and warmth in public and partner-facing interactions

Required

3+ years of successful experience in development and / or comms at an arts nonprofit
Educational background in one of the following fields: non-profit administration, arts administration, museum studies, public art, art history
Highly organized with a superior attention to detail; a creative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities
Competency with Mac OS, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Dropbox, database management, and the Adobe Suite
Excellent oral, written, and listening communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced work environment

Preferred

Experience with Neon One
Knowledge of the Bay Area arts community, including artists, arts patrons, and institutions, is a significant plus
