Thermal Hydraulics Engineer
Hadron Energy, Inc. specializes in Micro Modular Reactor development and is seeking a Thermal Hydraulics Engineer to join their team in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role involves leading thermal design and fluid system analysis for microreactors, focusing on modeling and verifying heat transport systems and core cooling mechanisms.
Responsibilities
Lead the thermal design and fluid system analysis for Hadron’s micro modular reactor
Model and verify the reactor's heat transport systems, core cooling mechanisms, and balance-of-plant operations under both steady-state and transient conditions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of experience in thermal-hydraulics analysis and fluid system design, preferably for nuclear or advanced energy systems
Proficiency in thermal-hydraulic system codes (e.g., RELAP, TRACE, SAM) or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+)
Strong understanding of heat transfer (conduction, convection, radiation), fluid mechanics, and two-phase flow
Experience in component design and sizing for heat exchangers, pumps, and valves
Knowledge of reactor safety analysis and transient analysis (e.g., Loss of Flow, Loss of Coolant)
Familiarity with balance-of-plant (BOP) engineering and power conversion cycles
