Engine Test Technician

Responsibilities

Operate dynamometers and related test equipment, including flow, temperature and pressure instrumentation, weighing and measurement tools, instruments, and computer cycling/data acquisition systems. Also maintain test engine logs
Facility maintenance and housekeeping within the lab
Assemble and disassemble test engines according to standard procedures
Completely service test engines including troubleshooting
Install engines in dynamometer cells, making necessary modifications, mounting brackets, mechanical and electrical connections
Completely operate dynamometer engines by means of the dynamometer console, performing necessary test schedules according to standard procedures
Operate electronic equipment related to engine testing, such as cell instrumentation, computer-based cycling/data acquisition systems, etc
Measure engine bores, valves, guides and other such components and record data
Have first-line responsibility for proper conduct of engine tests
Author, revise, and update Work Instructions or Procedures as appropriate
Perform all duties according to a team concept and utilizing proper interpersonal relationships to achieve departmental mission
Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor

Required

Strong working knowledge of gas and diesel engines
Instrumentation and measurement equipment
Facilities and machinery maintenance skills
Operate dynamometers and related test equipment, including flow, temperature and pressure instrumentation, weighing and measurement tools, instruments, and computer cycling/data acquisition systems
