Field Geologist / Field Scientist / Field Technician

American Geosciences, Inc. is a leading environmental firm specializing in site investigation and remediation. They are seeking a Mid-level Environmental Scientist or Geologist to conduct environmental assessments, manage data, and supervise field activities related to environmental projects.

Mining

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive environmental assessments including Phase I and Phase II ESAs, Underground Storage Tank (UST) investigations, PADEP Act II site investigations and remediation, and Oil & Gas investigations and remediation
Manage and interpret environmental monitoring data to assess analytical trends and identify exceedances
Coordinate field drilling activities with drill crews and complete work per provided instructions
Perform reconnaissance of the job sites and layout borings
Transport and submit samples to the laboratory according to project-specified procedures
Supervise and document field activities including soil borings, monitoring well installations, remediation, and sample collection
Prepare detailed work plans and reports outlining procedures, results, conclusions, and recommendations
Work directly with project managers on task management and project execution
Travel to local project sites, with occasional overnight stays
Perform all work safely and responsibly, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in environmental consulting with focus on environmental assessment, due diligence, sampling, data collection/evaluation, and technical writing
Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences or Engineering Required
Able to perform manual labor in inclement weather conditions and ability to travel and stay out-of-town as required

Preferred

Stormwater permitting experience (NPDES, SWPPP, SPDES, etc.)
Working knowledge of PA ACT 2 Land Recycling Programs
OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training and current 8-hour refresher
Geologist-In-Training (GIT) or Professional Geologist (PG) Certification a plus
ArcGIS skills and experience and other related geologic, civil engineering, materials testing experience (Asbestos Certification, Mold testing experience, and IAQ) is a plus
