Warehouse Manager
Service Steel and Pipe, Inc is the largest, locally owned steel and metals distributor in Northwest Louisiana. The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing warehouse personnel and production, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining equipment, and collaborating with the management team to achieve operational goals.

Management & Leadership: With this position, strong leadership and management skills are required. You will be required to lead daily shift production meetings and assign duties when necessary. Motivating warehouse personnel to achieve the most effective use of manpower and equipment is essential. You are required to manage the warehouse productivity and promote a strong teamwork environment for all warehouse employees
Safety : Everyone’s safety is our top priority at Service Steel & Pipe! You must keep safety as a priority and always follow SS&P safety guidelines and policies. Ensure employees are provided with and consistently use approved safety equipment. Direct employees to have safe working practice and working environment. Manage safety and OSHA compliance in warehouse operations. Conduct regular forklift and crane training sessions for certification. You are responsible for maintaining all safety records forms in accordance with our SSP Safety Program. This also includes regular, monthly safety meetings and recording accident reports as they occur
Equipment Monitoring and Maintenance : You are required to monitor all equipment within the warehouse and outside yard areas and maintain regular maintenance with the equipment according to specifications
Equipment Inventory and Supplies : You are required to maintain necessary levels of warehouse supplies and equipment needed to fulfill day-to-day operations. You must ensure that the proper tools are available at each workspace for employees
Personnel Development: You will often be required to hire, train, direct, and motivate warehouse personnel to achieve the most effective use of manpower and equipment for production and the warehouse. Insure the warehouse employees are continually trained in product knowledge
Accuracy : Loading accuracy is extremely important. You are required to ensure all material leaving the facility has been loaded, cut, and processed accurately and double checked for accuracy. A priority must be placed on order loading accuracy, safety and eliminating and mistakes
Observation: You will need to conduct monthly safety & yard inspections, document findings & observations, and distribute them to appropriate management and personnel
Vendor Management : You will need to meet and communicate with operational vendors to maintain and repair equipment. This includes getting quotes, submitting purchase orders, and making sure the job is completed correctly. This also includes overseeing the company fleet trucks and trailers
Communication: Maintain open communications with other departments, managers, and other company personnel
Recording processing : Completing and filling out paperwork accurately
Security and Storage : Ensure all equipment is stored undercover at the end of day and all doors and gates are secured
Management Team Collaboration : Collaborate with internal management team to ensure strategy alignment regarding production and warehouse organization goals. Communicate current warehouse activities with management team on a regular basis. Manage and coordinate with inside sales team regarding production with materials and processing cuttings
Qualification
Required
Prior plant or warehouse management experience is recommended (2 Year minimum, 3+ years preferred)
Bachelor's degree in business, management, or related field is preferred
Prior experience in warehouse and distribution is recommended
Strong understanding of warehouse / plant management with managing personnel, production and safety
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent and effective communication skills to establish, maintain and improve relationships with employees and management team
Good people skills. Communicate well with good grammar and vocabulary
Experience with maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment is needed
Must be computer literate (including all dimensions of Microsoft Office 365)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects at one time
Team Player – must understand the importance of working together with co-workers and management teammates
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in business, management, or related field is preferred
3+ years of prior plant or warehouse management experience is preferred
