New Grad, Entry LevelAdvancing Sight Network is seeking a Per Diem Recovery Technician responsible for the aseptic recovery of corneal tissue for transplant. The role involves being on call and traveling to donor locations, performing sterile surgical recovery, and ensuring compliance with established procedures and standards.

Responsibilities
Perform initial tasks related to service operations

Perform on-call duties to ensure that the recoveries in the coverage area are being completed
Conduct sterile surgical recovery of ocular tissue from cadaveric donors for transplant, education/research, which includes drawing and/or obtaining blood samples for serological testing
Conduct a thorough physical assessment of the donor
Review and evaluate available donor medical records on site to determine preliminary donor suitability prior to recovery
Travel to designated areas, such as hospitals, funeral homes, and medical examiner/coroner facilities, to perform recovery services
Enter recovery and donor data entry on recovered cases into appropriate databases
Package recovered tissue according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure safety for transport to the designated ASN laboratory for processing
Deliver tissue to:
Local couriers
Surgeons within the region
May occasionally be required to process and ship donor blood samples/specimens per SOPs to designated reference laboratories for testing
Qualification
Required
Surgical Technician or Certified Ophthalmic Technician preferred, or other hospital/medical professional experience
Position will require Saturday, Sunday, and or holiday coverage/work
Position will require evening and night shift coverage
Ability to interact with peers and hospital personnel on assignments
Excellent communication skills
Position will require travel and use of a personal car should a company vehicle not be readily available
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Ability to travel throughout the service area as required
Driving for extended periods or long distances may be required
Frequent periods of intense concentration, attention to detail, and accuracy
Ability to handle the mental and physical strain involved in printed materials and prolonged computer screen use
Moderate manual dexterity for basic keyboarding
Long periods of sitting and/or standing may be required
Ability to push/pull up to 350 pounds with assistance
