Executive Director
ScrapsKC is seeking an exceptional Executive Director to lead their organization, focusing on long-term strategy and day-to-day operations. The role involves overseeing program development, fundraising, financial oversight, and community engagement to enhance the organization's impact in the community.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategies that align with the organization’s mission and goals
Work closely with the board of directors to define and communicate the organization’s vision and direction
Recruit, hire, manage, and develop a strong leadership team and staff. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that supports the organization’s values
Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the organization’s programs and services
Ensure that the organization adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure safe and efficient operations
Develop and manage the organization’s budget. Ensure financial stability and sustainability
Oversee and participate in fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and fundraising events
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to the board and other stakeholders
Represent the organization in the community and advocate for its mission and programs
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, community leaders, and other nonprofit organizations
Oversee the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies to enhance the organization’s public image and outreach
Lead the organization in the development of long-term strategic plans to ensure growth and sustainability
Set and monitor near and medium-term goals and objectives to achieve strategic priorities
Prepare for and participate in board meetings. Provide timely and accurate information to the board
Assist the board in the development and implementation of governance best practices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent senior-level leadership experience may be considered in place of a degree
At least 7 years of progressive leadership experience in a nonprofit, education, or similarly complex organization
Demonstrated success in strategic planning, board relations, and leading teams
Proven ability in fiscal management, including budgeting, forecasting, and revenue development
Experience in fundraising, donor relations, and stakeholder engagement
Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
Experience in representing the organization to stakeholders and the public
Maintains a positive work atmosphere and organizational culture through consistent actions and communication in alignment with the organization's values
Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills
