Senior Mechanical Engineer
Randerson Technical Staffing is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for their Merrillville, IN regional office. The successful candidate will design systems and components, evaluate product performance, and ensure compliance with regulations while collaborating with project managers and other engineers.
Responsibilities
Design systems and components that meet client’s needs and requirements
Identify, formulate, and produce effective solutions to emerging problems
Evaluate the final product’s overall performance, reliability, and safety
Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions
Ensuring that products meet compliance with client and governmental regulations
Collaborating with project managers and other engineers on our team and with our clients
Creating plans and designs using CAD technology
Prepare product reports, scopes of work, and other technical documentation
Estimating budgets and time scopes for each project
Ability to manage in-discipline projects for entire project life cycle from proposal to completion without assistance
Ability to direct, lead, and manage small design team, including being responsible for all hours worked and billed by mechanical team
Responsible for quality assurance of all mechanical engineering deliverable to the client
Qualification
Required
Minimum of a BS in Mechanical Engineering
Proven working experience in mechanical engineering
Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc
Relevant experience (5-8 years) working in the mechanical engineering field in a heavy industrial setting
Familiarity with die cast machine layout, processes, and operations
Ability to analyze options and relevant test data/results
Highly analytical mind, with exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Know the latest in Mechanical Engineering codes – ASME, AWS and NFPA
Ability to clearly document observations and existing field conditions
Proficiency in oral and written communication to share technical knowledge in a clear, concise and understandable manner
Creativity and analytical skills
Possess working knowledge of HVAC calculations including sizing of heat and AC units for industrial settings and uses
Extensive piping process experience is a plus. Ability to size pipes according to flow based on contents and applicable industry standards
Working knowledge of hydraulic piping systems including control valves, pumps, filtration
Ability to read and produce schematic drawings from scratch using correct symbology. Hydraulic troubleshooting abilities
Superior computer skills, with solid experience in AutoCAD
Ability to perform engineering quality check on drawings produced by department
Ability to produce fabrication level detail drawings
Working knowledge of welding procedures, techniques, and symbols
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
Ability to interact with a variety of people at all levels from floor level clients and contractors up to facility owners
Must always exude professionalism when interacting with clientele
Must be self-motivated and responsible
No adverse driver's license restrictions of any kind. Clean driving record required to enter client facilities
Ability to walk for entire shift on uneven terrain around client's facilities for inspections, meetings, or other work
Ability to lift 40lbs unassisted
Ability to travel overnight if needed
Preferred
Registered Professional Engineer
Working knowledge of pipe stress analysis software such as Caesar or similar
